Eat, dance and celebrate like a Burgher

Who it’s for. Anyone who loves food with a story behind it. No Sri Lankan or Burgher background required. Great for a date night, a night out with friends or a family celebration. Tables can be booked together, so bring your mum, your aunty, the whole crew.

What you’ll do

  1. Welcome drink and short eats

Ginger beer and soft drinks all night, and short eats. Alcoholic drinks are available to buy at the bar.

  2. The stories behind the food

Where lamprais and love cake come from: lamprais from the Dutch Burghers, love cake thought to date from the Portuguese era. Both are labours of love, enjoyed by Burghers and non-Burghers alike for their mix of spice and sweet.

  3. Enjoy a traditional Burgher meal

A full lamprais plate, then love cake with Ceylon tea.

  4. Baila class

The night kicks on with a short baila class to get you up and moving to the infectious beat.

  5. Dance the night away

A DJ plays baila and hits from the 80s to now.

  6. Yours to take home

Lamprais and love cake recipe cards.

You’ll leave with a full stomach, both recipes, and a few new dance moves.
